Operation improvement of sequencing FED-batch wastewater treatment

Abstract Sequencing batch reactor systems in wastewater treatment is widely applied activated sludge technology. The system performance not only dependent on the raw sewage quality and biochemical processes, but flow pattern within has a significant impact itself. varying stages of operation require different fluid conditions; biological stage shall be appropriately mixed, whereas low velocity zones favor phase separation. aim this study was to improve sequencing order optimize efficiency. Numerical dynamic simulations were performed determine substrate biomass homogeneity inside at rate decantation estimated sedimentation phase. settling model calibrated by field measurements. results revealed that hydraulic efficiency 87% achievable settled solid content 0.9%.
